the cityscape of Canal Road Flyover (鵝頸橋)

Under the Canal Road Flyover in Hong Kong, "Villains Hitting" is a traditional folk custom performed to ward off evil and misfortune. Skilled practitioners use wooden sticks or shoes to strike effigies representing bad luck, while chanting incantations to dispel negative energies.

This custom attracts many believers and tourists who seek to clear their lives of troubles. The lively and ceremonial nature of "Villains Hitting", filled with blessings and hope, makes it a compelling symbol of Hong Kong’s cultural heritage.

To support Ms. Lam, one of the "Villains Hitting" masters, the Chinese text on the Villains’ placards was translated into English, and a mobile temple was created to house the sculptures. Other masters follow the format of "mobile temple, gradually transforming the Canal Road Flyover into a dynamic cultural landmark.
