Jockey Club ICH+ Innovative Heritage Education Programme

The Jockey Club ICH+ Innovative Heritage Education Programme is funded by The Hong Kong Jockey Club Charities Trust, and is a collaboration between Lingnan University (LU) and Hong Kong Art School (a division of Hong Kong Arts Centre). The programme aims to preserve, promote, redefine and revitalize the Intangible Cultural Heritage (ICH) of Hong Kong by means of a holistic model that integrates Education, Revitalization and Investigation.

Traditional artisans, contemporary art practitioners and the general public are invited to take part in this programme. Community participation revives Intangible Cultural Heritage, reclaiming the cultural essence of artisanship and rediscovers traditional values and local identity.

“Pass It On @ Secondary” targets local secondary students curious about Intangible Cultural Heritage of Hong Kong. After sharing with them the background and history behind each Intangible Cultural Heritage item, masters and artisans - or trainers of equivalent qualifications - will host the workshops which demonstrate the work process and introduce the skills involved.

Contemporary art practitioners are invited to share with the students concepts and techniques of art-making. Students are encouraged to integrate traditional craftsmanship with contemporary art practice. To initiate more exciting collaborations, offerings and innovative learning options for students, Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, and Mathematics (STEAM) education will also be adopted to drive diversity and creativity.
