White Balance
White Chalk, Dover, Kent

White Balance is a site-responsive intervention developed in Dover using chalk collected from the surrounding landscape to coat stone surfaces white. Borrowing its title from photographic colour correction, the work reflects on processes of adjustment, calibration, and assimilation within unfamiliar environments. Through the subtle act of blending stone into the white cliffs, the work explores the desire to fit into dominant landscapes and cultural conditions, while revealing the tension between visibility, belonging, and erasure.
