In a Situationship with the World presents two Velcro-constructed chairs that hold without intimacy, framing solitude as a practice of self-care and detachment as both an aesthetic and ethical stance. The tension of the Velcro, fastening yet easily released, mirrors the provisionality of connection and the uncertainty of contemporary living.
This work emerges from an ongoing investigation in which Lit continues to make different chairs, each exploring how bodies inhabit, wait, and witness. Like a situationship, connection is possible yet conditional, neither fully committed nor entirely absent. The chairs become symbolic sites where care is positioned, solitude settles, and presence is negotiated across distance, mobility, and time.
Solitude, detachment, and the delicate politics of contemporary connection.

Connection is possible, but never guaranteed.
